Mechanisation polishes a mine’s star
Proof that regular maintenance does pay dividends lies on the performance of the Sandvik machines at Union Section. All five of the original Sandvik Toro 400 LHDs that were delivered to the mine when the performance contract was signed nine years ago, are still operating. One of the machines recently logged 45 000 working hours. Three of the machines have logged in excess of 44 000 hours, while the fifth has passed the 40 000 hour mark.

We are proactive in the development of new equipment that is changing the way that mines operate
such as the ultra-low (XLP) suite of mining equipment, loco-drill, the ARM1100 continous miner, the box-hole borer and the pint-sized rock drill that makes it easier for machines to operate in confined spaces.
