| At the Steinexpo exhibition, held in Nieder-Ofleiden, Germany the 4th-7th of September, the debut of Sandvik Rock Processing’s all new vertical shaft impact crusher, named Merlin-VSI™ RP 109 took place.|
This is not simply a “me-too” copy, according to Sandvik Rock Processing who have spent several months at the design stage. The new machine promises a number of real benefits brought about by innovative design, and re-engineering known weaknesses within the VSI genre.
The Bi-flow™ feed system allows for directional control of the by-pass material, providing optimum control of product grading, and reducing wear to internal components. The new Bi-flow™ feed hopper and gates significantly reduce the amount of dust and fine material discharged to the atmosphere.
A new rotor design, Hurricane™ has fewer and better wear parts which can all be changed without having to remove the rotor from the crusher. In addition to fewer wear parts, higher capacity now results in lower costs and more efficient energy use.
Bi-flow™ feed, in conjunction with Hurricane™ rotor feed combine to give the maximum total throughput, and produce the greatest economies per tonne processed. An improved, re-designed bearing cartridge, discharge chute and motor mount arrangement provide a solid, reliable, base.
Typically used as a finishing crusher, Merlin-VSI™ will find many applications wherever high quality products – with or without fines - are required. The Merlin-VSI™ RP100 Series crushers, once fully developed, are expected to cover a capacity range extending above 1,000tph, depending on duty, with a maximum feed size of 55mm.
